Attending: Jeremy Dahlgren-President, Sheila L. Kalkbrenner -Vice President, Stephen Sweet-Board Member, Christina Petito-Associate Board Member, Alexis Ruhelman (sp?) - Secretary, Absent Agenda items: - Review/approve minutes from 7/11/24* board meeting available here: https://riseabovehwc.com/docs/board_mtgs/20240711.txt Sheila motioned to accept minutes. Stephen seconded. Minutes approved by all. - Balloon Rally main street festival update. * Jeremy reports that traffic was good though participation in book reviews was less active than last year. * People expressed interest in Cindy's yoga post card. * Tai-chi is still the most requested activity. - Treasurer's update * $1597 starting balance, less payments to Kelly Samolis for Aug ($80) and Sept ($70) * $1447 ending balance. Stephen moved to accept Treasurer's Report. Christina Seconded. - Classes/activities updates Kelly's notes report how her classes and activities are going. Jeremy reports that * Mark says there is still good participation in AA meetings and Cindy has mentioned she has a few more Yoga participants. * Insurance ended for Archery in the basement of the building. * Amy Yanity wanted to open a metaphysical shop in the building, but it didn't work out. - Discuss closing announcement Jeremy reports that he is posting the building (161 1/2 N. Main St. site) for sale and closing the center at 12pm on Oct 5th Practitioners will be notified to in the public announcement. Jeremy will post the notification via email and on the Rise Above website and provide text to other Board Members for the announcement so that it can be shared on social media. Sheila and Stephen agreed to share when the text is ready. (The closing was briefly touched on in the open discussion group meetup on Sept 19th, with suggestions for finding alternative sites not only for that meetup, but the wellness center in general.) All are in favor of retaining the Rise Above not-for-profit as a "dormant" entity for the time being with the option to be more active in another location in the future. Alternative site locations for consideration Grace United, the David A. Howe Library in Wellsville, and Skapa Artisans/Anna's Alterations on Main Street in Wellsville as she just posted that Skapa has closed. Sheila asked that the stipend funds be held in trust to support opportunities for practitioners to serve the community in the future.
